About Us
Jay and Beth Barham have spent their lives in the Southeast, with deep roots in Western North Carolina. After more than 30 years in the home renovation industry, Jay was ready for a new chapter—one that would bring a deeper purpose. Their new business was born from a desire to help families address health concerns tied to allergens and mold, while allowing them to enjoy the variety that comes with focusing on each individual and the challenges of their unique situation.
Their journey into mold detection began with their eldest daughter, Rachel. In her mid-20s, Rachel was renting a home when she began experiencing a range of unexplained symptoms. After consulting with a physician, she was told that environmental mold was likely the cause—and unless she left the home, the symptoms would continue. Bound by a lease and financial limitations, she had no choice but to stay for several more months.
Years later, Rachel and her husband bought a home built in 1969. It didn’t take long before familiar symptoms returned. A contractor found what appeared to be mold in the bathroom and under the flooring. After what they believed was a thorough renovation, the issues persisted. That’s when someone in mold remediation suggested something Rachel had never heard of: mold detection dogs. Finding a mold detection dog team wasn’t easy, but once they did, everything changed. The dog pinpointed mold in areas that had been overlooked, and the final remediation was a success. For the first time, the problem was fully resolved.
The experience left a lasting impression on the entire family. Between Rachel’s rental ordeal, the difficulties of buying a home with hidden mold, and repairs that failed to solve the issue, the Barhams knew others must be facing similar struggles. That’s when their mission became clear—combine their knowledge of homes with this highly effective method of mold detection to help people find real solutions and feel better in their homes.
